Francesca Foscarini is a versatile, independent choreographer and dancer. Her personal career was marked by the encounter with quite important masters of the national and international dance scene, with whom she had the opportunity to research on the languages of contemporary dance and improvisation, thus enriching and internalizing her language both in terms of expression and of performance.
She started her own professional experience with Aldes Roberto Castello (2000-2003) in the creations Biosculture and Il migliore dei mondi possibili, Ubu Award 2003. Her training as a dancer has been enriched by many projects promoted by Operaestate Festival_Bassano del Grappa (I), during which she studied with: Emio Greco/Accademia Mobile (NL), Yasmeen Godder and Iris Erez (IL), Carlotta Sagna (F), Nigel Charnock (UK), Gitta Wigro (UK), Lucy Cash (UK), Robert Clark (UK), Simona Bertozzi (I), Sharon Fridman (IL), Ronit Ziv (IL), Elisabeth Lea (AUS/UK), Sara Wiktorowicz (NL), Rachel Prische (UK).
Winner of the Equilibrio Award 2013 for Performer (Premio Equilibrio, Rome): the jury, chaired by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and consisting of Guy Cools, Raimund Hoghe, David Jays, and Frédéric Mazelly, acknowledged her highly developed technique, great emotional sensibility, her strong stage presence and her ability in creating a unique and original embodiment referring to her performance in Grandmother, a pièce created in collaboration with Sara Wiktorowicz. Thanks to this award, she could choose an international choreographer to work with for creating a new solo: Francesca chose the Israeli Yasmeen Godder who creates with her Gut Gift.
Recently, she won the jury prize of the 17th edition of the Masdanza International Dance Festival – Canary Islands, 2012, for her choreography Cantando sulle ossa (2011) as Best solo; this pièce was created in the frame of Choreoroam (an international project for choreographic research), then selected by Vetrina della giovane danza d'autore (Italian platform for emerging choreographers) and by Aerowaves, Dance Across Europe 2012. In 2011, with Marco D'Agostin and Giorgia Nardin, she co-created Spic & Span, where the three artists perform together. This show was awarded with a Special mention at Premio Scenario 2011. In 2009 she created her first choreography, Kalsh, finalist at the GD’A Veneto competition (Giovane danza d’autore – Regional prize for emerging choreographers), selected for Vetrina della giovane danza d’autore – Network Anticorpi XL and by Visionari for Kilowatt Festival 2010. Currently she is also collaborating as choreographer and performer with Sara Wiktorowicz in the new creation Once Upon a time, as perfomer with Ullallà Teatro Animazione, with Alessandro Sciarroni in Folk-s and again with Marco D'Agostin in Per non svegliare i draghi addormentati (winner of Prospettiva Danza 2011 award).
Since 2003 till 2011 Francesca has been the artistic director of Centro Formazione Danza in Romano d'Ezzelino (Vicenza) working alongside Barbara Todesco. Since 2011 she continues leading workshops of choreographic research. In 2013 she created, together with the choreographers Marco D'Agostin and Giorgia Nardin, the cultural association Van.
