orchestra conductor, Renato Palumbo
Passion and vocation led Renato Palumbo, since his adolescence, to study singing, conducting and choir, piano and main composition alongside the exploration of the opera house in all its aspects until his debut on the podium, just nineteen years old, with Il trovatore. He thus embarked on an intense career that saw him perform a vast repertoire in major Italian and international theatres, from La Scala in Milan to the Paris Opera, from Covent Garden in London to the festivals of Pesaro and Martina Franca. From Washington, Chicago, Berlin, Tokyo, Bilbao and Barcelona to Genoa, Turin, Parma, Venice, Verona, Florence, Naples, Cagliari and Bari, where he inaugurated with Turandot the first opera season in the reconstructed Petruzzelli Theatre. The absolute respect for the score, lived with a rigorous but not dogmatic spirit, is the basis of a research path focused on the dramaturgical dimension of the opera and its European evolution, from Rossini to Marschner, from Donizetti and Bellini to Verdi, Meyerbeer, Puccini and Giordano. With the same spirit, he dedicates himself intensely to symphonic music, from Viennese classicism to Mahler and Hindemith, passing through the great romantic and late romantic German repertoire, Dvorak, Grieg and Tchaikovsky. The love for singing and vocalism builds the other pillar of Renato Palumbo's activity, both as a conductor and as a teacher. He is Knight of the Italian Republic for artistic merits.
